Description
Jewish grassroots organizations have long worked at the local and state levels to address the social injustices of our day. In 2019—with key support from RPF—Jews United for Justice brought seven of these groups together for networking, cross-training, and field-building activities. The initiative, called The Collaborative for Jewish Organizing, convened leaders and staff from Carolina Jews for Justice (North Carolina), Detroit Jews for Justice (Detroit), Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action (Massachusetts), Jewish Community Action (Minnesota), Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (Illinois), Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (New York), and Jews United for Justice (Maryland and D.C.) along with their peers from two national organizations: the Religious Action Center and Bend the Arc. Over the past year, these leaders have exchanged best practices, addressed collective challenges, helped develop a shared messaging platform addressing racism and anti-Semitism, and fostered the kind of deep, inter-group connections that effective, long-term movement building requires. With this renewal funding from RPF, the Collaborative will continue to connect, weave, and elevate these Jewish organizations as they work for social justice in communities across the country.
